Behind Closed Doors – Community Domestic Violence Team
The Service
Behind Closed Doors (BCD) supports women whose lives are, or have been, affected by domestic violence and abuse in all communities and areas of Leeds. We are here to support people of all race and ethnic groups, of all ages and regardless of their sexuality, religious beliefs, disabilities, skills or competencies. We will try to meet everyone’s individual needs and, where necessary and with consent, get help from other agencies who may have other resources or expertise to make this happen.
BCD provides the provides the Community Domestic Violence Team within Leeds Domestic Violence Service (LDVS). Working in safe locations (home or community) directly with victims who are at medium to high risk and requiring help to reduce risk, increase safety and address practical issues e.g. housing, debts, etc. This includes supporting people with civil legal issues.

What we offer
Our Community Domestic Violence Practitioners will provide regular practical and emotional support on housing, benefits and budgeting, safety planning, health and social care and community engagement. In addition we can accompany you to solicitor’s appointments and support you in attending the Family Courts. We can liaise with agencies on your behalf to ensure that you receive specialist support in areas such as drug and alcohol dependency, mental health and children’s education and well-being.
Access Restrictions
No referrals for direct support for girls under the age of 16.
