Meeting Point Leeds
Meeting Point Leeds is a practical and emotional support for refugees and asylum seekers based in Armley, Leeds, providing a city-wide service. One facet of the project is the Wednesday afternoon Women’s Group. The project started in 2003 and we are based at Christ Church in Armley, Leeds, open to all regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, ability or legal status.
Meeting Point principally aims to work with Refugees and Asylum Seekers towards social integration. We also provide a range of suitable community provisions in association with other organisations to meet the needs of our beneficiaries – whether health, employment, advice, family support or food provision. We also aim to reduce negative stereotypes and break down barriers in the local community.

This is a non-referral support service for refugee or asylum seeking women. The chefs are men and are sensitive to the women’s preferences for privacy. The group is coordinated by a project worker and team of volunteers, but is designed and influenced by the women.
