A thank you from Women’s Lives Leeds for International Women’s Day

On Thursday 5th March 2020 over 90 women who have used Women’s Lives Leeds services, joined us at for a jam-packed day of talks, workshops and networking!

The aim of the event was to mark International Women’s Day, by celebrating and being inspired by local women here in Leeds.

Powerful talks were given by an all-female line-up, who spoke about rebuilding lives despite adversity, the increase in food poverty, the importance of recognising your own potential and taking action to improve yours and other people’s lives.

She Writes, the Getaway Girls poetry group, and Leeds-based poet and Community Worker Natalie Davies gave beautiful & uplifting performances to start the day.

Hyde Park Source, Leeds Sisters Uncut and Leeds Repair Café also spoke about the free activities people can get involved in, in the city. Visit the Hyde Park Source website for more information on times and free travel to access their growing space and food courses.

Workshop leaders worked tirelessly to involve women in over 10 different but equally popular activities including; plant potting, self-love mantras, embroidery, poetry and discussing community action with Leeds North & West Foodbank and Leeds Sisters Uncut. During the bath-salts making workshop, Emily spoke to people about making Leeds a Women-Friendly city. Click here to find out more and get involved.

Thank you to the Snapshott photo booth who stayed all day, to give everyone the chance of a fun printed memento! The photo booth service is currently on hold, but is offering special discounts for future events. Contact the team directly to find out more.
