Invitation to the women and girls of Leeds

The Leeds Women and Girls Hub identified the need to develop a State of Women’s Health in Leeds Report to highlight the health challenges that women in our city face, and their experiences of accessing and using services to improve and maintain their health.

The aim of the report is that it will be used to inform service commissioning, design, development and delivery to ensure that women are receiving better opportunities for their health needs.

We wish to collect “voices and experiences” to support the data in the report, we will do this in the format of focus groups. The discussions will focus on topics and how they impact on your health and wellbeing.

This is your opportunity to come and tell us how being a woman and the issues you may face, affects your health and wellbeing.

We are running lots of focus groups across the city for women with diverse needs. These will be free sessions taking no longer than 2 hours which will be held in fully accessible venues in the city centre. We have received funding from Leeds ACTS  so we can reimburse travel costs and provide refreshments. Unfortunately we cannot reimburse childcare costs but these will be child-friendly sessions so you are welcome to bring any child(ren) with you, but please let us know if you are planning to do so.

We have been linking in with the Equality Hubs and Networks to organise focus groups with women from all walks of life – those who identify as BME Women, Women Carers, Older Women, Lesbian and Bisexual Women, Trans Women, Women with Disabilities, or simply a Woman (if being a woman is ever simple!)

We are in the process of organising these focus groups and will be updating this page regularly as they get booked in. We have a couple of sessions already booked in:

If you want the chance to share your experiences, thoughts and ideas on the health and wellbeing of a woman, and to contribute to this exciting piece of work that may have a huge impact on how services and support for women in our city are designed, developed and delivered, then this is for you!

If you have any questions or would like some more information then get in touch.
